Collaboration for Dodo Magazine 3rd issue, this an illustrated guide to uncommon Legendary Creatures.

1. Yemaya (yoruba) – is an Orisha and the mother of all Orishas, Queen of the Ocean.
2. Mbói Tu’ĩ (guaraní) –  legendary monsters of Guaraní mythology, an enormous serpent with a huge parrot head.
3. Kappa (japan) – is a yōkai that warns children of the dangers lurking in water.
4. La Llorona (hispanic america) –  those who hear the wails of La Llorona are marked for death.
5. Motelo Mama (amazonian) – a gigantic turtle that carries the jungle on it´s back, when it moves causes earthquakes. 6. Yacuruna (amazonian) – mythical water people, they communicate with aquatic animals.
7. Siguanaba (central america) –  is a shape-changing spirit, lures men away into danger.
8. Ciguapa (dominican/taino) – nocturnal magical cruel creature with backward facing feet.
9. Yagurete-aba (guaraní) – is a witch thats changes shape into half jaguar half man.
10. Anasi (west africa) – spider shape spirit of all knowledge of storie.
11. Wendigo (ojibwa) – demonic cannibalist creature, half human half beats.
12. Lamassu (syria) – protective deity, lion’s body, eagle’s wings, and human’s head.
13. Tue tue (mapuche) – a sorcer that can detach his head and fly using his ears.
14. Ifrit (arabic) – lives underground and frequents ruins, they are noted for their strength and cunning.
15. Mohan (chibchas) – savage creature that lives in a cave a rape beautiful women.
16. Baron Samdi (hatian vodou) – is a Loa of the dead, he is notorious for his outrageous behavior.
17. Saci-pererê (brazil) – mischievous one-legged and smoker magical boy.
18. Taqfwaj (matacos) – magical dwarf poet.
19. Garuda (thai) – humanoid bird, large enough to block out the sun.
20. Kokopelli (hopi) –  fertility deity, usually depicted as a humpbacked flute player.
21. Gurivilo (mapuche) – the fox snake,it´s a water being, helps people crossing rivers.
22. Tawa (hopi) – Sun god, the creator.
23. Qalupalik (inuit) – they  take babies and children away who disobey their parents.
24. Babalu aye (yoruba) – orisha strongly associated with infectious disease, and healing.


25. Sitatara (buddhism) – is a Tara a female Buddha,  known for compassion, long life, healing and serenity.
26. Nurikabe (japan) – is a Yōkai, or spirit, It manifests as a wall that impedes or misdirects walking travelers at night. 27. Krampus (alpine) – a horned, anthropomorphic figure. It punishes children during the Christmas season who had misbehaved.
28. Bungisngis (philippine) – is a giant cyclops, is described as is always laughing.
29. Askafroa (germanic) – is the guardian of the ash tree. 30. Brownie (scotish) – they inhabit houses and aid in tasks around the house. However, they do not like to be seen and will only work at night, traditionally in exchange for small gifts of food.
31. Manticore (persian) – a “man-eater” legendary creature.
32. Xuan Cabritu (galician/asturian) – divinity of clouds and storms. controls the weather.
33. Nāga (india) – great snakes, they are nature spirits and the protectors of springs, wells and rivers.
34. Bunyip (australia) – water creature.
35. Ammit (egypt) – A funerary deity, her titles included “Devourer of the Dead”, “Eater of Hearts”, and “Great of Death.
36. Hel (norse) – she rules over Helheim, the underworld where the dead dwell.
37. Ilmatar (finnish) – was a virgin spirit of the air and nature.
38. Morgan (celtic) – a powerful enchantress enemy of King Arthur.
39. Agloolik (inuit) – is a spirit that lives underneath the ice and gives aid to fishermen and hunters.
40. Jogorumo (japan) – is a Yokai, a spider that can change its appearance into that of a seductive woman.
41. Qilin (china) – mythical creature, It is a good omen thought to occasion prosperity or serenity. It is often depicted with what looks like fire all over its body.
42. Dagda (irish) – is a father-figure and a protector of the tribe. The good god.
43. Odin (nordic) – is a god associated with healing, death, royalty, knowledge, battle, sorcery and poetry.
44. Baba Yaga (slavic) – supernatural being that lives between life and death. Eats children.
45. Svetovid (slavic) – deity of war, fertility and abundance.
46. La Güestía (asturian) – is a procession of  souls in torment that wanders the path of a parish at midnight.
47. Barbegazi (swiss) – is furred gnome with enormous feet that uses as skies.porcelain lid-covered cups.
53. Dames Blanches (french) – female spirits, they kill those that refuse to dance with them.
54. Kasa-obake (japanese) – yōkai, they are jumping cyclone umbrellas.
55. Airavata (hindu) – magic elephant with seven trunks, he helps god Indra making rains and clouds.
56. Wondjina (aboriginal australian) – cloud and rain spirits who, during the Dreamtime, created or influenced the landscape and its inhabitants.
57. Kelpie (scotish) – water spirit, water horse.
58. Wampus Cat (american) –  cursed woman transformed into half-cat, half-cat. She is a hunter.
59. Alkonost (slavic) – creature with the body of a bird but the head of a beautiful woman.  Those who hear its sounds forget everything they know and want nothing more ever again.
60. Zhu Bajie (chinesse) – heavenly commander who was cast down to earth because of his piggish appetites.
61. Manananggal (philippine) – blood-suckingmonster, it can separate its torso.
62. Vanara (hindu) – supernatural monkey people that dwell in the forest.
63. Patupaiarehe (maoiri) – mountain spirits, They could lure people away from safety with the music of their flutes.
64. Banshee (irish) – female spirit, omen of death and a messenger from the underworld.
65. Akephaloi (greek) – heedless men.
66. Black Annis (english) – blue witch with iron claws, eats children.
67. Sandman (european) – brings good dreams by sprinkling magical sand onto the eyes of people while they sleep.
68. Sunna (norse) – sun goddess.
69. Astaroth (jew) – male demon, a crowned Prince of Hell.
70. Clurichaun (irish) – drunk fairies, they protect wine cellar.
71. Rokurokubi (japanesse) – yōkai, possess a neck that stretch and shorten very long.
